It’s Hot! It’s Fresh – It’s Morning Coffee! On today’s morning coffee, we’re talking college basketball, baseball and no-nos. We’ll check out, Ed Rush’s last west coast whistle, Rutgers men without jobs and Josh Hamilton’s baseball boos blues. It was a tough day in the sports world yesterday. Let’s check it out.
The last day of March will be quite memorable for sports fans. Legends fell, like Griner and others were born of pain, like Kevin Ware. New traditions were founded in the American League as Bo Porter brought a hungry Astros team to the field. What a day!
Three hot stories this morning. First, the New York JETS are making big money moves by axing five players. Revis is still angry about his trade rumors. The ultra-Christian Josh Hamilton throws stones at his for Texas city. DFW folks aren’t happy. And Da’Quan Bowers is at the mercy of the D.A. for his honesty about the unregistered gun he was carrying.
King James continues to thrill the crowds with incredible skills this season. The Miami Heat seem to be clicking on all cylinders and just prepping for the post season. With each new record or feat, LeBron is compared to the ultimate player Michael Jordan. What does he think about that?
It’s almost game time and while we have no idea who will win, there a few things that we do know! #1 New Orleans knows how to throw a party. #2 Jackie Harbaugh is a Game Ready Mom to the nth degree. #3 Lots of diets will start tomorrow after all of those beignets and all of that gumbo. What a week. Now it’s time for football.
Remember when Super Bowl Media coverage gave us insight into the preparation and excitement of our sports heroes? In days past we learned about pregame rituals and team rivalries. Now? We’re hearing about steroids, stupid statements and even worse, the media “pros” are discussing extremely personal matters that are none of their business.
Tiger wins, LeBron goes to the White House and Skylar Diggins gets even better – what a great beginning to the sports week. Each of those three athletes, along with Coach Summit, should motivate you to kick up your game whatever your game is. Not one of those players leaves anything to chance; thus, they get to celebrate and carry trophies.
You can WIN! On Sunday, Patrick Willis will be all business as his team tries to secure a spot in the 2013 Super Bowl. But he remembers his humble beginnings and he wants to help others move up and out as well. You can help.
The four major sports are buzzing today. MLB will announce its 2013 Hall of Fame Class – is anybody headed for Cooperstown? The NFL continues with its coaching carousel. The football league is also waiting on post-surgery info for RGIII. The NBA is watching the Boston Celtics fighting five. And there’s hockey! (That’s the story there.)
2013 is beginning with a bang! Robert Griffin III gave it the old Baylor try, but he was hobbled and the Seattle defense took full advantage. The coaching carousel just keeps going around. Only two teams have hired new coaches – the Bills (Doug Marrone) and the Chiefs (Andy Reid). The NHL lockout finally ended and the NBA teams are heating up. We still host morning coffee on the FB but we’ll be sure to update the page here, too!
