SP Summer Lovin’ Cuties
Ball Girls, Cutie of the Week — By Mia Jackson on June 17, 2012 at 8:38 PMNew All Sports Cuties!
Football season will pick up soon and we’re counting down the days. But we shouldn’t have to wait until then to see the good lookin’ guys out there on the other courts, courses and fields. You’ve asked for the cuties, so it’s our duty to look for them. It’s hard work, but somebody has to do it. Enjoy!
Matt Kemp – A Fine American Past Time
Had Matt Kemp grown just three more inches, we’d be watching him in the NBA Finals this week. Basketball was his first love. Instead, he stopped at a stately 6’3″ and realized that he’d better try another sport. He took to the baseball diamond and MLB is happy for it – and so are the ladies. SP Fan Sharmeen Mak is in love!
A muscular 215 lbs, the man can hypnotize you with those sexy bedroom eyes. And to top it off he loves to SHOP! Shoes are what he goes for first, but he learned that people respond to him differently when he takes time with his appearance. A recent Forbes magazine cover showcased him in perfectly tailored suit, while the ESPN the Magazine gave us a look at Matt the cool brother. Both looks are gorgeous.
As for his baseball career, we’ve watched him go from green rookie to tested vet right before our eyes. In 2006 he arrived as a brash, freakishly talented center fielder who frustrated and amazed those who love the game. During those early years, he dated Rihanna and found himself in the media often. In 2012 we see a more mature Matt Kemp who understands his role as a leader, not just a player. In 2011 When Matt found out that he’d signed the largest contract in MLB history for $160 million, he cried. “And then, I was like, Wow, now I can take care of my mama,” said Kemp. (ESPN the Magazine) The bond between the two is beautiful. She’s watched him weather tough times and emerge stronger and wiser. We’ve watched him get better and finer. Keep aging well, Matt!
Thabo Sefolosha – Swiss Chocolate
2006 was clearly a great year! The same year Matt goes big league for the Dodgers, Thabo Sefolosha is selected by the Philadelphia 76′ers and traded to the Chicago Bulls. Fluent in French, Italian and English, I wouldn’t care which language he would use, just say my name. The son of a Swiss mother and South African father, Thabo is well-traveled, worldly and multi talented. He is an accomplished drummer and enjoyed making music with his older brother more than anything – that is until he found round ball.
Once Thabo discovered basketball, he and his brother lived and breathed the sport learning everything they could by watching videotapes of the NBA. From 17 years – 21 years old, Sefolosha played in France until he was taken 13th in the NBA draft. His dream had come true. The Sixers traded Thabo to the Bulls where he spent a tough two+ years. Midway through the ’08-’09 season he was sent to the OKC Thunder. Although he says there’s a big difference between Oklahoma and Switzerland, he’s found a home away from home. Now 6’7″ guard is playing for a championship alongside Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, hoping to take a ring home. Let’s watch this fine fella’ age and play gracefully. He’ll be making music – and shots for a long time to come. Drum and dribble for us baby!
Giancarlo Stanton – Hitting Pretty
We found another gorgeous #27 who walks tall and carries a big stick! The NL Player of the Month this past May is killing the league in just his third year. The 22-year-old outfielder is settling into himself and decided recently to use his actual first name Giancarlo versus what we’d grown to know him by (Mike). I guess if the whole team could change its name, then why couldn’t he?
Growing up in LA, it was probably easier for Giancarlo Cruz Michael Stanton to answer to Mike. But as he grows up, he’s more steady on the field and in his skin. And what beautiful skin it is. Stanton has Puerto Rican, African-American and Irish roots and they blend like a spicy stew – hot! He continues to find inspiration in other players with Puerto Rican roots like those of his mother. (She still calls him Cruz – but she can call him whatever she wants.) He looks up to Roberto Clemente and Iván Rodriguez as he continues to perfect his game.
Stanton accepted a baseball scholarship to USC, but like Thabo and Kemp, decided to forgo college and begin his athletic career as soon as he learned that the Florida Marlins drafted him. He made his major league debut in 2010 and gets better each year. It was clear immediately that he was a power hitter. Giancarlo’s first Big League homer was a grand slam against the Tampa Bay Rays’ ace Matt Garza. His most recent grand slam for the Miami Marlins knocked the lights out on the outfield scoreboard for a few minutes. We will look for more big hits and huge stories from Mr. Giancarlo Cruz Michael Stanton.
